Upsilon Xi : Lee University Homecoming 2000
Upsilon Xi enjoyed another successful Homecoming in 2000. The weekend began with the alumni breakfast where current Upsilon president Jason Harris gave the annual State of the Club Address. After President Harris concluded, UXAA President Dan Boling briefly discussed our continued quest for non-profit status. The UXAA has now been officially granted non-profit status and can now proceed with the next phases of strategy for alumni involvement and advancement.

Next on the breakfast agenda was the naming of the 2000 Upsilon Xi Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. Current alumni coordinator Jake Jeffords made the presentation to Sam Luke, currently the senior pastor of the Princeton Pike Church of God in Hamilton, Ohio.

After honoring Sam Luke, several alumni shared stories in memory of our brother, Dr. Tom Johnson, who tragically drowned in Florida this past summer. The memories of Tom were heartfelt and humorous and highlighted how much he will be missed by all members of our brotherhood.

In perhaps the only surprise of the breakfast, Senior Member Brandon Litchfield outlined a number of significant changes soon to be affecting the Upsilon induction process. A committee of Upsilon members, including alumni Bill George, Jerome Hammond, and Jason Van Hook, have been hard at work discussing what needs to be done to alter the induction process.
As always, the Upsilon sweetheart, Amber Holt, was recognized and the club sang to her on bended knee. Upsilon then sung the club song and got a nice, big fatty.
At halftime of the Lee University Homecoming basketball game, Upsilon alumni Ken Schauer was inducted into the Lee University Athletic Hall of Fame. A 4-year undefeated starter in tennis, Ken was an incredible 68-0 in his Lee University career. He joins charter member Larry Carpenter, the other Upsilon man in the Lee athletic hall of fame.
After the athletic hall of fame induction, current Upsilon sweetheart Amber Holt was awarded the honor of Homecoming Queen. Amber is the 3rd consecutive Upsilon sweetheart to be awarded Homecoming Queen honors.
