| Upsilon enjoyed a truly incredible Homecoming.. . Congratulations to Upsilon little sister Rachael DiGiulio who was crowned as Lee University's 2001 Homecoming Queen. This marks the 4th consecutive year that a Upsilon little sister has been honored as Homecoming Queen. . .Congratulations to Marty Smith who was honored as the 2001 Lee University Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. Smith is the 6th Upsilon man to be honored as the Lee University Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, which is the highest honor Lee University can bestow upon an alumni. In the last 11 years, an unbelievably impressive 45% (5 of 11) of Lee's award winners have been Upsilon alumni. . .The Prominent Alumni page has been altered to reflect the Lee Distinguished Alumni Award Winners. . . Congratulations to Colonel Benny Perez who was honored as the Upsilon Xi Distinguished Alumni of the Year. |

| The UXW welcomes Kyle Percival to the e-mail directory. . .Tony Robinson(Fall 95) and Amy(Harris)Robinson(Fall 98) had their first daughter, Leighton Elizabeth Robinson-Born 8/14/01 6lbs. 9oz. I received the following URGENT e-mail from Tony Colson: Hello friends, I would like to ask for you to remember LaShea's grandmother in prayer today. Only 20% of her heart is functioning properly and she is needing emergency open heart surgery. They have to get her blood pressure down and make sure her kidney is working good before they can operate. The doctors said that surgery was her only hope of survival of which they said was very dangerous in itself. WE BELIEVE IN GOD'S MIRACULOUS POWER. Please help us pray as you can today. Thanks. |

| I wanted to thank anyone who prayed for me while I was in the Holy Land. I had a life-altering time while walking where Christ walked. I took many photos of the Holy Land, including a couple with Gil Medina who I was staying with. | The UXW welcomes Nic Yeomans to the e-mail directory. . . I wanted to let everyone know that I will be leaving on May 30th for a 34 day pilgrimage to the Holy Land, Egypt, and Europe, that will include a 2 week stay in Bethlehem. There are 2 reasons I am telling you this: 1. Bethlehem is in Palestinian occupied territory (the West Bank) and it is considered a war zone. If you read this notice, please say a quick prayer for my safety and that God will use this life-changing experience to bring me closer to him (I mean this in a spiritual sense, not a literal sense - I want to see Jerusalem, before I see the NEW Jerusalem!) 2. While in the Holy Land, I will be staying with our brother Gil Medina, who is stationed there. If anyone has any messages they would like me to take to Gil, please forward them to me, and I will deliver them when I get over there. | Congratulations to the men and women of Upsilon who recently graduated with honors. (special thanks to Kent Windham for working hard to research the last 2 years worth of data) During the decade of the 1990s, 19 members of Upsilon graduated with honors. In the first 2 years of this decade, we have already had 10 honors graduates. Strange thing about that hickory. . . it just gets better with time. |

| The following message was received by the UXW on Thursday evening 2/22/01. . . "Chad Mclean was using a table saw to enclose the basement . When he was pushing a piece of wood through the saw, he reached around behind with his left hand to pull the wood on through & it pulled his hand back through the saw blade. Just a tragic accident, it almost cut his left hand off, he lost his ring finger & maybe his thumb, it was cut it in two .They have it held togerther with a pin & hope to save it. The rest of his fingers are a mess. On Monday the surgon will see how things are progressing & decide what to do next. We have been praying for God's healing power & when Monday comes we can all rejoice at what has happened. Chad is in alot of pain & is very depressed. | The UXW has been shut down since April 3rd due to the tragic death of Dr. Tom Johnson. A special and permanent webpage on the Upsilon website will be designed shortly to honor his life and contribution to our organization. If you would like to have your comments included on the website, please send an e-mail to Joe Giove. Congratulations to Paul Sausville who has won the 2000 F. J. Lee Award. Upsilon men have now won 6 of the last 12 F. J. Lee awards which are "bestowed by a vote of the faculty upon the student considered to be the most outstanding all-around Lee University senior." It may be a new millenium, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. If the Lee website is correct, Upsilon also placed seven individuals on the national "Who's Who" listing - Jessica Childers, Mindy Dixon, Sarah Griffey, Scott Hunter, Sarah Lamagna, Paul Sausville, and Joey Watts. This ties our all time record set by the class of 1991. |
