Upsilon Xi is the oldest and most accomplished fraternity
on the campus of Lee University. Originally founded in the fall of 1962, the members and
alumni of Upsilon Xi have dedicated themselves to embodying I Cor 10:31, Whether
therefore ye eat, drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
The original eight founding members of Upsilon were Duran Palmertree, Dale Huff, James Hubbard, Duane Lambert, Billy J. O'Neal, Jim McClain, Donnie Shoemaker, and Roger Coursen.
When these men officially organized, they chose the name "Upsilon Xi"
which translated from Greek means, "to serve, to render service, to be helpful;
to show hospitality."
At the time, there were no fraternities or sororities on the Lee College campus,
so Upsilon Xi had to navigate uncharted seas throughout its formation and early
development. Upsilon has stood the test of time and has become a strong and
God-glorifying organization. The Upsilon Xi Historical Archive (below) contains
historical lists and articles of
interest from Upsilon’s past.
